Price: $15 to $25 each
The price depends on the quality of the stalactite section. Usually this means that the more perfect and complete, the darker the amethyst color and the more attractive the agate in the center of the stalactite, the higher the cost.In the amethyst fields of Urubuay, unlike those to the north in Brazil, they often find stalacitic formations of amethyst that have grown in the amethyst geodes that have formed in cavieties in the basalts. Some of these are over a foot long and make fabulous specimens that sell for more than $10,000 each.
More often than not, these stalactites are not of the best color and somewhat damaged during their removal from the basalt. These stalactites are cut up like carat slices and polished on both sides and those are the ones from whcih the stalactite sections that we offer for sale are made.
