Vanadinite Crystals On Matrix From Morocco
Red crystals of vanadinite on a matrix of bladed barite crystals. These specimens are collected from the now closed lead mines near the little village of Mibladen near Midelt, Morocco. Sometimes the barite crystals are white and others are brown and even black looking.
The miners who collect these specimens used to work in the mines when they were being comercially worked for lead ore. Each year the specimens get harder to get as the miners work the specimen producing veins deeper into the rock.
